Welcome to Circular 677 Diagnostics
The Bilge Water Solutions Kit uses patent pending technology to diagnose OWS problems and help find solutions. The bilge water testing kits are designed to allow crews to troubleshoot problems quickly – while underway, avoiding expensive, time-consuming port calls. The Kit uses the International Maritime Organization (IMO) MEPC.1/Circular 677 to identify contaminants — and provides easy-to-follow instructions for taking corrective action. Our Kit and use of Circular 677 will allow mariners and ship managers to address Port state control authorities' concerns by demonstrating compliance with SMS and ISO 14001 plans, including documentation of maintenance and performance of OWS and bilge water management systems.
The bilge water separator testing kit was developed and built by authors of International Maritime Organization’s new IMO MEPC.1/ Circular 677: "GUIDE TO DIAGNOSING CONTAMINANTS IN OILY BILGE WATER TO MAINTAIN, OPERATE AND TROUBLESHOOT BILGE WATER TREATMENT SYSTEMS" – the internationally accepted best practice for identifying bilge water contaminants that foul the OWS and for troubleshooting and preventing OWS failures. Soot, solvents, sewage, and other contaminants in shipboard bilges can cause an OWS to fail. Failure can lead to constant OWS cycling, lost time, great frustration, and inappropriate discharge of oil and oily wastes, which can result in significant criminal penalties and fines. Identifying contaminants is the first step in troubleshooting an OWS failure, and preventing future bilge water management and oily water separator system failures.
